Knowing full well we had no idea where any keeper fluke are, Cooch and I head out downriver into the bay way too early. Tried a few drifts there, wouldn't you know it, there's that guy who I shall call "Billy Brown" who had the slip near me when I had a slip, drifting right next to us. Well relatively speaking, not really that close. He's with his girl who I shall call "Bikini." So it's hot and she is too, for a woman of her years, at least from that distance, but unfortunately no Bikini. Oh well, maybe still too early. The fluke are cooperating for us and them except guess how long they are: yup they are frisbeeing back into the drink.
With no keepers and no Bikini we move over near the 11A where many are deep so we go shallow (Hi Fred!) and the fish are there too. Being as it's no net Sunday (again) we don't need no stinkin net. It's actually relaxing knowing you don't need to stop, reel in, find the net, net the short, etc. just swing baby. So we do, and pull in a keeper finally. Another advantage is you can be coy about it and the fleet stays deep while you catch fish.
It gets hotter, Cutro does a few "I just pumped my crap tank into RB" 5gal buckets over his head challenges to cool off, and we do our best to stay hydrated. Try a few secret holes on our way back, and speed run it back to the ramp about 12 with dinner. hoo-ray.
Nice day, thanks Chris!
