More People Fishing
« on: November 15, 2007, 07:55:55 PM »
Is it my imagination or are more people fishing?  About two years ago at this time of year, I would go surf fishing in South Jersey and I may see only 1 or 2 others fishing.  Now I am lucky if there is a space to squeeze in my vehicle.  I don't mind.  It just seems weird.

Welcome Aboard Gaff It,

I have noticed the same thing, like mboy said maybe its the warm weather or maybe surf fishing is getting more popular.

I know whenever I talk to guys especially over at Ortley Beach that many of the guys carry poles and stuff in their cars, trucks or whatever they drive. They take a couple of hours off and hit the suds.

I guess this is due to all the great info out there that they can have forwarded to their cell phones, like fishing reports tide tables and friends being able to connect to friends with up to the second reports.

It is nor just for the retired guy anymore especially during the week.

I am down at Ortley at least 3 times a week myself and noticed the amount hitting the beach especially when the bite is on.  The nice thing is that most are not concerned about infringing on ones space.

Again Welcome Aboard...

Happy Catching

Paul

PS; where do you hit the suds?

Don't forget the fact that there are tons more people living down here than there were just a few years ago.  Seems like everybody is trying to escape "Nort Joisey" ;D

I can't blame them there, but with this over crowding it does make for some interesting times on the beach especially when the person has no clue how to cast.  It does get comical at times.

There was a kid on the beach Monday fishing with a set of headphones and grovin to the tunes catching blues.  Best of both worlds I guess...

Happy catching

Paul

Fish mostly out of Brigantine NJ.  On occasion I head up to LBI, primarily Barnegat Light and Beach Haven/Holgate.

Again good to have you aboard.  Plus it is nice to have someone from the south that can keep everyone informed what is going on down there, especially in the spring during the run that time of year.

Happy Catching

I understand that Thanksgiving Day was slower than usual.  Less people showed up to fish the beaches.  Not sure of the reason, but that is what I read.  That info pertains strictly to IBSP south to Cape May.
