Overall, a settled weekend with some unsettled water conditions for Sunday. Weather will be mostly dry with the chance of an isolated on scattered shower later on Saturday. This should clear out for Sunday. Highs will be in the 70’s and 80’s with overnight lows in the 50’s to 60’s. Humidity will be low to moderate. Some patchy fog is likely early Saturday Morning. Water conditions will be good on Saturday becoming borderline to cautious on Sunday for ocean waters. Sunday will see a slight increase in winds to 15 knots with gusts to 25 knots. Seas will build 2-3 feet and then to 4 feet inshore and 5-8 feet offshore. Exact timing for Sunday could be more into the afternoon and even later overnight, but keep this in mind if you see winds increase and seas begin to build, this will be the start of a long week of winds and seas. Surf and beach conditions will be good on Saturday and ok on Sunday. Winds will increase some on Sunday and surf will become rougher and higher at 2-4 feet with a Moderate to High risk of rip currents. Water temperatures have cooled by a couple of degrees, but still remain in the 70’s. UV Index will be Moderate to High at 4-7/15.
High pressure will slowly move eastward through Saturday. A weak cold front will approach from the west and cross the area on Saturday Night into Sunday. High pressure will then again, build across the Northeastern US for much of the week. Low pressure off of the Carolina Coast will remain to the south of the area through Thursday.
Next week looks dry again as high pressure is back in control. Highs will be in the mid 70’s to low 80’s inland with low 70’s at the shore. Overnight lows will range from low 50’s to the mid 60’s. Humidity will be low to moderate, as hints of Fall temperatures appear as Summer comes to an end. Water, surf and beach will not be nearly as good, with cautious conditions most of the week. Winds will gust to 25 knots and seas 4-10 feet probable. These are not definite forecasts as high pressure to the north and the possibility of the progression of a low pressure system off of the Carolinas could bring these persistent conditions. However, timing and location of both could change the forecasts one way or another.
The tropics continue to be active with a tropical depression and two invests in the Atlantic. One invest is closer to the coast and may progress off of the Carolinas. The other two are way out at sea still, but are worth watching as well.
Have a great weekend and thanks for reading!
