Another settled week for weather, but a blowout on the water. It will be mostly dry again this week as high pressure controls the area again, all but, Monday Night. Monday Night could see some very isolated to scattered showers across the state. The remainder of the time will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Some days, like Tuesday could see more clouds than sun. It will be breezy for most of the week as well, especially the first half. Highs will be in the 70’s with overnight lows ranging from the 40’s to 60’s. Humidity will be low to moderate, as Fall-like temperatures slowly move into the region. Water conditions will be cautious to hazardous on the oceans with some pockets of good conditions in the rivers and bays. Winds will gust to 30 knots with seas to 8 feet or more. Inshore will see 5-7 feet on average with offshore in the 5-8 foot range with a predominant northeast to onshore easterly flow. Small Craft Advisories are probable all week. Surf and beach conditions will be ok at best and more likely cautious to even hazardous. Surf will be rough and high at 3-8 feet on average this week. Rip Current Risk will be High and it will be dangerous to be in the water. Tides could run higher as well as the onshore flow pushes water into the coast. Water temperatures are steady in the 70’s. UV Index will be Low to High at 3-7/15.
High pressure will become established to the northwest Sunday Night with an area of low pressure over Georgia and the Carolinas. Both of these boundaries will slowly move eastward through the middle of the week with low pressure continuing to linger off of the Carolina Coast. This will be followed by another area of high pressure building southeast into the region for next weekend.
The weekend looks to be a continuation of the week with dry conditions, a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the 70’s with overnight lows in the 50’s and 60’s. Water, surf and beach conditions continue to be cautious to hazardous with even higher winds to 30 knots and seas over 10 feet.
The Tropics are active still. Now Tropical Storm Ida is out in the Eastern Atlantic, as well as Invest 96 off of the Southeastern Coast. This invest area coupled with high pressure will bring the winds and seas on the water. TS Ida does not look like a threat to land, but could affect water conditions down the road.
Have a great week and thanks for reading!
