NJ Fishing & Boating Weather Outlook Weekend Edition: Oct 24-25, 2015

Another mixed weekend for weather and water conditions. Saturday will have a mix of sun and clouds, dry during the day, with clouds and rain chances increasing into Saturday Night. The greatest chances of showers will be across northern areas, but an isolated to scattered shower cannot be ruled out statewide. Sunday will see more clouds than sun and chances of showers statewide. Highs will be in the 50’s to mid 60’s with overnight lows in the 30’s to 50’s. Water conditions will be good for rivers and bays, borderline for inshore ocean waters and cautious for midshore to offshore waters. Inshore waters will average 3 feet, however seas to 4 feet are possible. Winds will be 15 knots or less across all waters. Midshore to offshore waters could see seas 5-6 feet. Surf and beach conditions will be good with some higher surf possible to 4 feet, but averaging 1-3 feet. Water temperatures have cooled some more into the mid 50’s to low 60’s. UV Index will be Low to Moderate at 1-4/15.

A high pressure system over the Northern Great Lakes will build east into New England through Saturday before moving offshore on Saturday Night. A cold front will move across the area Sunday. It will be followed by another high pressure system taking a similar track Monday into Tuesday through New England and then offshore Tuesday Night. A stronger cold front is expected to arrive Wednesday Night into Thursday.

Next week will start off dry with rain chances increasing from midweek through the end of the week. Highs will be in the 50’s and 60’s with overnight lows into the 30’s to 50’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will be borderline to good through midweek as well, with conditions becoming borderline to cautious through the end of the week.

The Atlantic Tropics are quiet again. Hurricane Patricia in the Pacific is an extremely dangerous Category 5 storm with sustained winds at 200 MPH. Patricia is on a track for Mexico and will cross into Texas and then the Central US during the week. Heavy Rains from this system are likely across Texas and into the middle US. It will be worth watching and may affect weather across the country next week.
