Another week of unsettled weather and fronts causing mainly cautious water conditions. Monday all day and Tuesday Day will be dry before rain chances move in for Tuesday Night, Wednesday, and Thursday Day. Tuesday Night will be scattered to widely scattered showers. Wednesday will be more widespread and organized rain and even thunderstorms, as a warm front lifts north. 1-2 inches of rain are possible statewide. Thursday showers will be scattered to widely scattered again, before clearing out for Thursday Afternoon/Evening. Dry conditions will return on Thursday Night and Friday. Highs will range from the 50’s and 60’s with overnight lows in the 30’s to 50’s. Midweek will be the warmest, with any rain and the start and end of the week the coldest. Winds will be gusty most of the week. Water conditions will be mainly cautious with some pockets of good, borderline, and even hazardous as winds gust to 30 knots and seas increase to 8+ feet. River and bays will have more days of good, while inshore waters will be a mix and offshore waters will push the hazardous range most of the week. Offshore seas could increase to 15 feet. Surf conditions will be ok to cautious with gusty winds, rough surf and wave heights pushing 9 feet at times. Water temperatures are steady in the upper 50’s to low 60’s. UV Index will be Low to Moderate at 0-4/15.

In the wake of the cold front that pushed through the region on Sunday, a high pressure system will build over the Northeast on Monday and Tuesday before receding offshore. A warm front associated with a low pressure system emerging from the Western Gulf of Mexico will start lifting through the area on Wednesday. The low pressure systems’s associated cold front should move through on Thursday. Another high is expected to build over the Eastern Seaboard for next weekend.

The weekend looks to be dry as high pressure builds over the area for Halloween. Highs will be in the 50’s with overnight lows ranging from the 30’s to the north and the 40’s elsewhere.

The Atlantic Tropics are quiet.

Have a great week and thanks for reading!

Re: Wednesday Weather/Coastal Flooding
« Reply #1 on: October 27, 2015, 07:20:35 PM »
As low pressure over the Northern Great Lakes pushes on high pressure along the Northeast Coast, a warm front will lift forward bringing rains, gusty winds, and coastal flooding. Rains will range from less than an inch to more than 2.5 inches, upwards towards 3 inches over the next 2 days. In addition, gusty winds, prompting Small Craft Advisories and Gale Warnings will blow to 30+ knots. Seas will build 10 feet and tides will run 1-2 feet above normal, prompting Coastal Flood Advisories. Tides will push the High Astronomical Tide marks and Coastal Flood Advisories have been issued up the Delaware into Salem County, out into the Atlantic up through Monmouth County, and into the Raritan Bay into Middlesex County. In addition to any tidal flooding, rainfall could compound the problem and add additional water that is unable to drain. Clearing fallen leaves and debris from storm drains is helpful before any rain or flooding occurs. If you live in an area prone to minor tidal or heavy rain flooding, this event has the possibility for either of these to happen. Flash flooding is also possible, but less likely, as upwards of 3 inches for northwestern parts of the state are possible.

Be alert to changing weather conditions and have a way of receiving weather alerts through Thursday Night.

Be safe!!

Check NWS Philadelphia or NWS New York City's(depending where you live) webpages for updated Advisories, Watches, and Warnings!
