Very interesting.  I recognize some of the fishing holes as still being hot spots to this day.  Funny how things stay the same like that.

Never heard of a Sally Growler before.  Did a goodle search and appears to be something resembling a cat fish.  5hrug Wierd!

great find TT^ TT^ TT^ Love stuff like that I have my Dad's and Uncles log books from when they were fishing and plotted out their compass runs and they are right on the for todays hotspots, amazing TT^ TT^

Sally Growler also comes up on Ask.com as a "Sea Raven"..Picture of a Sea Raven on a site comes reminds me ofa searobin....perhaps that is what the Sally Growler was called back then. ???

Sally Growler AKA Toadfish AKA Oyster Cracker.

Must be a local name, I've only ever heard them called that by my Grandmother who was born and raised in Monmouth Beach and the people who ran the now gone Chris's Landing in Sea Bright.
