A mostly settled week with a blast of Arctic Air and cautious conditions to start and end the week. This will be the most settled and driest week in a few, as high pressure takes control for a bulk of the week. Scattered flurries will be possible on Monday, as Arctic Air moves in on Sunday Night and remains for most of the week. This will be the coldest air of the season with highs only reaching 20’s and 30’s and overnight lows in the single digits to teens. In addition to any flurries, Monday will be breezy as well, making for blustery conditions with wind chills down into the 20’s. Tuesday will continue sunny with a mix of clouds during the day and cold temperatures. The lack of clouds during the overnight hours will allow radiational cooling, making way for dipping lows. Wednesday and Thursday will also see a mix of sun and clouds, with slightly warmer highs and lows, but temperatures will still only in the 20’s to 40’s. Friday will bring in some clouds with chances of rain all day. Rain and clouds will also bring in the warmest temperatures of the week with highs into the 40’s and 50’s. Water conditions will start off cautious, improve for later Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, before deteriorating on Friday. Rivers and bays could see better conditions than ocean waters and ocean waters could see cautious conditions stick around for all day Tuesday. Winds will gust to 35 knots the beginning of the week and seas to 7 feet inshore and 12 feet midshore to offshore. Surf and beach conditions will be ok to cautious for Monday and Tuesday and better for Wednesday through Friday. Winds will gust to 35 knots and surf heights to 6 feet likely. Water temperatures have continued to drop a degree or two with most waters in the mid to upper 40’s. UV Index will be Low to Moderate at 0-3/15.

An Arctic Cold Front will push through the region on Sunday Night bringing the coldest air of the Winter, so far. A high will build over the Mid-Atlantic States through at least midweek. A pair of low pressure systems will lift northeast near the region late this week.

Low pressure systems will continue to bring unsettled weather this weekend, with rain chances both days. Highs will be in the 40’s and 50’s with overnight lows in the 20’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will be cautious on Saturday and borderline to cautious on Sunday.

Have a great first week of 2016! Thanks for reading…
