Late Day Bass on the Wire
« on: November 21, 2007, 07:13:46 PM »
Had to wait until around 2 to shove off as I waited for my son (and Mate) Matt to get out of school.

Fog/mist was beginning to build as we headed out. Fisrt stop was between the channels jigging on some marks. Hooked up on some Blues and short bass, Ocean had some nice 6'+ rollers bngh.

Tried jigging a few more reading with little success.

Threw out the wire with Shads on unbrella rigs. Had one Chartruse and one Blue/pearl. One mid water column and one about 3-5' off the bottom.

Hooked up in the fisrt 4 minutes with a 36" Bass, she was followed by 7 more bass from 28-37" in the next 1 1/4 hours ( we only kept two)

A good short trip, not many boats out, some real nice breakers off The Rockaways.

River was pretty much fgged in as well as the ocean when we docked

Will be on a short Turkeyday trip tomorrow with Matt, Capt Mike, Jim (aka poopsy) and myself TT^

Nice report.  Unfortunately, I did experience those 6-foot rollers, but the Manasquan wasn't giving up any fish today when I turned around after being the ocean for all of 5-10 minutes.  Seemed as if it was the 4th of July out there instead of the day before Thanksgiving.  Boat traffic was plentiful!
