Another unsettled week with some showers and thunderstorm chances and borderline to cautious water conditions. Heat and humidity for most of the week with low pressure, fronts and highs moving through the area. Monday will start off with fog, then chances of showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night. Highs will be in the 80’s and 90’s with overnight lows not much out of the 60’s. Tuesday will be much of the same with chance of showers and thunderstorms all day. Highs will be in the 80’s and 90’s with overnight lows in the 60’s, however the passing cold front will bring lows in the northern areas into the mid to upper 50’s and less humidity for the time. Wednesday will be mostly dry, a little cooler, with highs in the 80’s and overnight lows in the 50’s and 60’s. Thursday will have chances of showers and thunderstorms all day with highs in the 70’s and 80’s and overnight lows in the 50’s and 60’s. Friday will have chances of showers and thunderstorms again, during the day mainly and southern and coastal areas. Highs in the 70’s and 80’s with overnight lows in the 50’s and 60’s. Showers and thunderstorms all week, look to be scattered to widely scattered. Humidity will be moderate to high, then low to moderate by midweek. Water conditions will be mixed. Rivers and bays will be mostly good, however some areas may see 2-3 foot waves during the week. Inshore ocean waters will be mainly cautious, mostly for seas. Some areas will see winds to 20 knots early in the week, but seas will be up to 4 feet and then 5 feet for the end of the week. Now, if seas only hit 2-3 feet, not so bad, but 3+ feet will become borderline to cautious. Of course, larger vessels may not have any problems at all. It is a week while mostly in the yellow for seas, may be just fine at times. Just be aware that seas could increase to those top numbers. Also, seas will be higher in and around thunderstorms, which will be scattered most of the week. Midshore to offshore waters will be cautious all week with some gustier winds to 25 knots and seas to 7 feet possible. Water temperatures are steady in the 60’s and 70’s with surf temperatures in the mid to upper 60’s already. Surf and beach conditions will be good to ok, with surf heights in the 1-3 and 2-4 foot range, making Rip Current Risks Low to Moderate. I would not be surprised to see a High Risk day this week. Remember to check Rip Current Risks daily and follow posted lifeguard information. Just because there is a low risk, does not mean that there is not ANY risk! UV Index will be Low to Very High at 0-10/15
High pressure will continue to influence our weather into Monday. A surface trough approaching from the northwest is forecast to arrive late on Monday night followed by a cold front on Tuesday night. High pressure is expected to build into our region from the west for Wednesday. Low pressure is anticipated to move from the Ohio River Valley on Thursday to the waters off the Middle Atlantic coast on Thursday night. Another area of high pressure is expected to follow for the weekend.
The weekend looks dry, right now, with continued highs in the 70’s and 80’s with overnight lows in the 50’s and 60’s. Water, surf and beach conditions look good right now. Saturday may see some gusty winds and building seas, but overall, from this point, conditions look good to maybe borderline.
There is still an invest in the Bay of Campeche (Gulf of Mexico) that is being watched.
Have a great week and thanks for reading!
