Fishing Fort Lauderdale with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Jason and Chessa Shaw along with their three boys, 12 year old Jackson, 5 year old Case and 3 year Easton from Leesburg, Florida chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  The Shaw’s own the Central Florida Gun & Tactical Company (www.cflgunandtactical.com) in Leesburg and were in Fort Lauderdale vacationing.  Winds were out of the east at 5 mph with temperatures in the high 80’s.

As the three young anglers boarded the boat, they were all pumped up with high enthusiasm and questioned what type of fish we were going to be catching. After leaving the dock, fifteen minutes later we were at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale in 120 ft. of water 1.8 miles from shore.  Due to our extreme drop off, if you venture off another ¼ of a mile, you will find yourself in 500 ft. of water.

We started off trolling with two #8 plainers down and four surface baits.  The young anglers sat in their chairs screaming out, “Here fishy, fishy”.  Our first fish was on one of the plainer rods, and Jackson, the oldest boy, was our angler reeling in a nice size Kingfish.   On our next fish it was Case’s turn.  Since Case was 5 years old and Easton was 3, we left their rods in the rod holders in the covering boards to make it easier on them to reel in their fish.  After the three boys brought in their fish, it was the parents turn.  Dave, our mate, was kept busy answering all of the boy’s questions.

The total catch of the family was three Kingfish, three Barracudas and seven Black Fin Tunas.    The edible fish were all filet out for the Shaw’s to take back home.   With smiles on all their faces, it was time to head back from our deep sea fishing charter to the Bahia Mar Dock, located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.  The anglers enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock in the a/c salon.

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
