Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Jimbo Littlefield, Cliff Sawyer, Bernard Kuchu and Ken Takakawa, all transplants from Hawaii and now living in Fort Lauderdale, chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Winds were out of the east at 10 mph, seas running 2-4 ft. with temperatures in the mid 90’s.  As the anglers boarded the boat, they requested catching eating fish.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water south of the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore.  We put down two plainers – both #8 and both had sea witches in front of a double hooked Bonito strip.  For surface baits we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips.  I trolled zig zagging the reefs from 80 ft. of water out to 200 ft. while the four anglers, being friends for many years, talked about their fishing experience in Hawaii.  The anglers brought with them sushi to eat while fishing, and they shared their sushi with the crew which was delicious and appreciated.

For the past few days, large schools of Bonitos have been feeding on the bait fish with a small amount of Tunas and Kingfish also feeding on the same bait fish.  All the anglers took turns bringing in a total of 6 Barracudas, 1 Kingfish, 1 Tuna and 23 Bonitos, which Jimbo said they had a special Hawaii recipe for them.

With fish for tonight’s dinner, it was time to head back to the dock.  The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.  At the dock, our mate, Dave, filet out and bagged the angler’s catches.
