The kids had half a day of school yesterday. The wife and I decided to keep the girl child (10yo) home and take her fishing. She enjoys the boat and needs some occasional alone time away from her younger brothers. By the time I got home from night shift, made it to the boat, got gas, etc it was about 1100. Knowing there was bait the other day south of me but, a good bite north of me I left the decision of which way to turn up to Kristy. She chose to turn left, wanting to get the rough ride out of the way and have a better ride home with the winds and spray.
We motored to outside of SRI and set the lines and trolled, and trolled, and trolled. Not a touch all day and not a word on the radio or from others who I knew were out. I was very disappointed as there was little bait and few marks although they did kind of increase as the day went on.
Although I wanted to stay out till dark to see if the afternoon bite of the day before happened again we had to pull the plug due another obligation. Sure enough, shortly after 4 or so I get the text from a friend with a report of fish now being caught. Another friend went out as I was coming in and went right. He had a stellar evening leaving them biting at 7 or 8pm.
Regardless of the fish it is always nice to get out on the water with family.
