Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Dana Ralston and Kevin Bryan, a commercial fisherman, from New Jersey chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing.   As the couple boarded the boat, they were greeted by the Topshotfishing team and were asked what they were interested in catching and their reply was – “a good time – any fish”.   I replied that we would try our best to fulfill their request.

Fifteen-twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore.  If you venture off another ¼ of a mile, you would be in 500 ft. of water due to our extreme drop off which we are very fortunate to have in Fort Lauderdale.  We started off trolling with one #8 deep plainer rod and four Ballyhoo surface baits with one Bonito strip down the center and a daisy chain teaser.  Dana was our first angler and she reeled in a Kingfish - Kevin followed with another Kingfish.

Sailfish center rigger!!!! – Hooked up - as he exited the water and did a 360° jump.  Dana was our angler and positioned herself into the fighting chair.  Kevin’s experience as a commercial fisherman helped tremendously with clearing the other lines and was appreciated by our mate, Dave.  Dana brought the Sailfish to the side of the boat while Dave billed the fish for picture taking and release.

We reset and Dana was our angler once again on a 10 lb. Mahi Mahi.  Another black shadow appeared on the right short.  Sailfish hooked up!!!!  Kevin was our angler on this Sailfish – after a fifteen minute battle, Dave grabbed a hold of the leader as pictures were taken and the Sailfish was released.  Great job by both anglers on their Sailfish!!!

With a total of 2 Sailfish, 2 Kingfish, 2 Bonitos and 3 Mahi Mahi’s, it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.   The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock.
