Great time and alot of fish.
We set sail @ 11pm for wrecks 60-70 miles out. Nice soft following wind made for a smooth ride. Tiny Tim (The Anonymous Puller) showing up after all the Big Boy bunks were claimed put me in a switch mode. Let's just say my new offensive line wouldn't have fit in the last bunk.
When the engines idled down, everyone jumped up and started getting ready although it was just past 4 am.
Fresh cawfy and hot pork roll, egg and cheese sandwiches got us ready for the rail.
It was lightly raining and dark when Duffman won the ALL IMPORTANT Dollar Dollar Bill Yo. I THINK some peepz welched??? MickRazz was a very close 2nd but ............
There was a $10 biggest sea bass and a $10 biggest fish pool and everyone was in so 2 pools over $300 were there for the taking.
Sea bass and JUMBO porgys started coming over the rail. The lighter it became (and the rain did stop around daylight), the better the sea bass bit. BUT truth be told (and I AM Truth-In-Reporting) the dinner PLATTER sized porgies stole the show.
TunaMan Vic's friend Gerald stole the show.......bailing c-bass and porgies every drop. He tied a rig up for me and I joined him. THANK YOU Jerald. As Captain Tracy said........'if these porgies grew to 10#, no one would fish for anything else'. They did fight all the way up to the surface (200+').
Andy S and MsGulp fished with electric reels but more of THAT later.
We made three drops over the course of the day with adjustments on each one producing fish.
Sea Bass, Jumbo Sea Bass, Porgy, Ling, White Hake, Cod, Ocean Pout and Pollock all made their way onboard. AND 2 Winter Flounder were caught but they're out of season.......Right Stellios/Uncle Paulie?
Gerald was high hook filling a 72 quart cooler by himself. Everyone caught.
Scott Kearny won the Sea Bass pool with a nice 6.5# bass. Willie took the other pool with a 15# pollock.
Everyone said they had a good time, weather was good, catching was non-stop and the crew was top notch. This was their 2nd of 3 days in a row. They rotated between 2 and 3 on deck at all times and were there getting fresh bait, getting out tangles and gaffing fish. Nice Jobs guys!
