The Gambler's fluke trips have been up and down, catch-wise. Conditions dictate a lot of how the landings will be. Fluke are definitely on the grounds, along with sea bass, and when the drift is good, so is the fishing. We've been catching them on squid/spearing combos as well as Gulp!. Not a ton of action this morning, but some nice sized keepers came over the rails and a few of our fishermen caught their fluke limit on fluke up to 5 lbs. Pool winner today was a 5lber. The leading fluke for our monthly derby is a 7.8lber. With only a week left, that fish could easily be over-taken.
The Nite Wreckin trip, last night, was slow. We caught some mixed sized ling, sea bass, squid and mackerel but not like it was a couple weeks ago. We tried some deeper wrecks. The Gambler will be looking at some new areas for Nite Wreckin next Thursday. There has been some big mahi swimming around the boat the last few times, also. But they have been shy as far as taking our baits. I would guess that if you could catch a squid and have it ready to flip to a mahi, it would be irreistible.
On our night trip tonight, we will be looking for multi specices, ready to catch blues, mackerel and sea bass. Capt Bob has been running nights this weekend and can't wait to get back out there tonight and tomorrow night.
Let's pray for good wether for the rest of the summer season.
See you onboard
Capt Bob
