Ah, Capt. I didn't realize this was your first post...  Welcome....  I do have a question for you.  Are there any regulation for a NJ guy to trailer his boat to Florida and fish for a week or so.. Or does the boat have to be registered in Florida..

Hey Cat. Jay! Welcome. I've fished the keys for Tarpon a few times both with guides and renting a boat on my own. It's been too long since I've been down there!

Glad to have you aboard, I have been wanting to go fishing in the Keys since I was a kid.  My grand parents had a house in North St. Pete. and I use to spend all my summers there. 

After growing up and married we bought a summer place in St. Pete on Boca Ciega Bay, but since we have sold it and I regret in doing so.

I have spent only day trips and never fished the keys.  I am hoping to do so in the near future.  The wife knows it is one of my dreams.  Maybe one day we will get to live out my dream.

I have wanted to fish the Keys and many other places in Fla.  It's just not the right time now.  I will be retired on Feb 1 and I hope to be going down to find a place to buy for the winter months.  THEN I will be ready to fish Fla.

I'll be in Key West for a week in April 08. YES I'm going fishing! Got married on a sailboat, sunset cruse out of Key West. It's going to be my 10 year anniversary, I'm going back. Caught lots of red snappers back then, thought about Tarpon this time. Ped, St. Pete was my home away from home when I was younger. My grandparents had 2 houses in S. St. Pete. My fishing memories from the south are endless. From the Sunshine Skyway, Gandy Catwalks,St. Pete Pier, Fort Desoto, Head Boats at Pass a Grill, rental boats on Tampa Bay,Live Shrimp'in, live lining pinfish,etc. Thanks for bringing up the memories.  <'((((><

FishinDude the pleasure was all mine.

I can still remember their address 3311 Melton Street North.  Boy do I wish I could do it all over again and know what I know now.

 was our hang out. There was and still is a small restaurant across from the beach that use to make a killer Grouper sandwich I can still taste them today.

Out second favorite place was the St. Pete Pier.  You never know what you would bring up everything from grouper to sharks.  That was before they renovated the building and turned it into an upside down pyramid.  Pretty cool but I liked the old building better.  More character.

Anyway I used to own a condo on the group of islands going over to Pass-A-Grill called Isla Del Sol.  I wish I had it back.  First floor right in the bay what a hoot watching the dolphins catching their morning breakfast.

Now I'm rambling, Sorry.  But the memories are great and plentiful.  This all started in the early 50's and I still enjoy going there to this day.

Used to go to Key Marathon with my father, grandfather and brother for a full week of fishing, just the guys...  It was great.

Welcome Aboard Captn Jay.  I am new to this site also, but not new to fishing.  Tarpon fished Key West many years ago with a Captn by the name of Buz Owens, the Crankenstein was his boat.  Went down there probably 5 or 6 times PK (Pre-Kids) Lost touch with him though.  Will keep you in mind if and when I get a chance to get back down there.
