Challenging the creatures of the deep

Our Florida fishing is big; really BIG!Per the American Sportsfishing Association and Southwick Association... Every year Florida sells well over 2.3 million recreational saltwater licenses. The economic impact is staggering. The 9.2 billion dollars spent supports over 88 thousand jobs, and is a leading factor in Florida not having a state income tax. How good is Florida Fishing? Let's take a look!Want to fish for trophies in California; in Alaska? Per the IGFA: Florida has more, many more, IGFA records than California & Alaska combined. Current records:Florida 979California 323Alaska 320Each year over four million anglers fish Florida waters. Want to avoid the crowd? Go Deep!  Once we pass the 200 foot mark boats are few and far between. Seldom do we see another boat the entire trip. How good is deep water Florida fishing?Let's take a look.In central Florida we are forced to travel great distances to reach the 200+ foot deep water fishing grounds. No problem! There is never a dull moment:Decades ago Captain Wilson Hubbard pioneered headboat trolling:Today, four generations later, Captain Wilson's grandson, Captain Dylan Hubbard, makes sure the legacy continues. Indeed, there is never a dull moment:That was fun. Let's eat a hot off the grill dinner, and take a long nap. We want to be at our best to challenge the creatures of the deep. This is going to be a good one:Drugs, getting into trouble, NO WAY!  I have too many fish to catch:These deep water fish are running a 'little' on the large side:My great grandson is proud of his shallow water Mangrove Snapper:Looks like they tend to grow a 'little' bigger out here:The hard-fighting Almaco Jack is smaller, but much better eating than the Greater Amberjack. As usual, the ladies show us how it's done:Are you ready for the fight of all fights; the fight of your life? Challenging the mighty Amberjack will re-define the meaning of the word 'Challenge!'Gals & Guys, be sure to keep a close eye on the weather. It can get really nasty in a very short time. Often the bad weather goes as quickly as it comes.Let's get back to work:The fish that redefines Florida Grouper Sandwich...The hard fighting, great eating, Gag Grouper:We are tired, fished out tired. After a hot shower, and a Chef Tammy Home Cooked meal, it's bunk time. Guys & Girls, we owe our Tammy a very special thanks. Not only does she keep the drinks ice cold, but she insist on adding her own personal-touch to every meal she serves. She is a friend to one and all. Some how, some way, she finds a way to showcase her skills with a camera. Jersey-Girl Tammy took the pictures we have just seen. She is one busy lady. How good is deep water Florida fishing?Back at the dock:
