Looking for a Marina...
« on: January 14, 2008, 10:01:26 AM »
Currently I have been trailering my boat from my home in Matawan to Either the Keyport public ramp or Atlantic Highlands Municipal Marina. I Called Twin Towers Marina in Keyport for Finger slip prices and also boat on trailer storage.
Is anyone familiar with this marina?  Hows the ramp? I don't like dipping any part of my truck into the water which always happens in keyport. The ramp is not steep enough.
They asked for $2400 for a slip. Having a slip is nice but pricey..
Any help would be appreciated.. ;)

Wagner's in Keyport is 100/ft + 100 if you have an outboard.

Front street bridge would be your only concern if you have a high boat ( I don't).

All Slips have finger docks.

KMB gas dock open no later then 6am and either wagner's or KMB gas close no earlier then 5=6pm on weekends, so gassing up (even early) never an issue).

I don't know where Twin Lights in Keyport is, but if interested in Wagner's, LMK and I can get you more info. They shoulk have a slip for you (and also have rack storage, but that is same price as wet).

WB will be joining me on my dock this coming season over @ Wagner's.

If I remember correctly, with rack storage they will also charge you sales tax.  They don't charge that with a slip.  Don't remember what the explaination was as to why.
That will add a few bucks to the price.  Something to keep in mind when pricing.

Mboy, Its actually called Wagner's twin towers marina, on Front street in Keyport,Its across the street from The Bluerock tavern. I drove down this morning and it seems okay. I'm not sure where they would store boats on trailers or How steep the ramp is..  I think I'm leaning towards getting a finger slip. Trailering by myself is pretty hard.. :-\
I cross over the  Raritan train bridge coming home from work in the city. Sometimes I get the itch to go fishing after seeing the water in the bay. It will be much easier going out alone with my boat in a slip t^
How is security at the marina?  Do you have to lock up all the valuables?

You will find that you get more use out of your boat if it is in a slip.   t^

Then that is the marina I am at then.

Boats are on trailers now for winter storage just because some want it that way (guess they want to get money's worth with trailers).

I have no security issues, but I do lock everything up. I would not matter where I was, but I have not heard of any issues there.

Their some quirky issues there, but nothing that was a deal breaker for me.

I would be more then happy to discuss everything with you via PM or phone if you like.

Hunter 2, If you are looking for a slip you might want to see what is available at Raitan Marina (off Laurel Ave )Keansburg. There are a few down in that same area. I think  another name is Lentz's marina(not sure of correct spelling). Maybe they can he help. AJ

I was at Lentze's and they are expensive. The owner isn't one of my favorite people. I would definately look elsewhere.

Haven't heard anything good about them or any in that general area (Keansburg).

Wow with all the trouble you guys have looking for a marina maybe we should as NJSWF pool all members for $1,000 and buy our own private marina.  This way you guys with boat can manage it yourself.

Pretty soon we will be up to 1000 members X $1000 = a million bucks food for thought...

You can buy one slip at High Bar Harbour, near Barnegat Light, for about $60,000.00.

Could probably buy Viking marina in Lawrence Harbor for 3-4 million.

I know my pops would want to if he was younger, but figures he is too old to be doing that now.

It is hard to buy a marina ANYWHERE anymore.  Most are being sold off to developers for condos and such.   bngh bngh

PeggyLee, I looked at lentz' Marina and they were expensive. Although its a great location near the Keensberg pier.
I have family that ownes a marina in Great Kills in Staten Island. I could get a nice deal but dont want to deal with the traffic. They have an 80' Jim Smith sport fishing boat The 'Gina Lisa'
I think im going to go with Wagners in Keyport.
