Tog fishing - is everybody done?
« on: January 17, 2008, 03:03:19 PM »
Is everybody done Tog fishing?  I wouldn't mind one more shot.  Down south that is.  Maybe on the Bandit or on a non-sponser.

Do they get tog all month of Feb down there?

(not sure exactly which forum to post this under, please move to appropriate place - thx)

I wasn't sure if I should have concerns about this cold snap coming.  I guess not.  I'm not sure when the next trip is, but I'm looking forward to it already  ;D.

The mate on the Big Mohawk told me yesterday (see my post as the fishing was still good yesterday) that as long as the water temp keeps the togs inshore, they will probably still go out for the next few weeks, although if you plan to fish up here, I would call any boat that is still targeting togs up here.

A good cold snap/storm can change the temps quickly and move the fish into deeper water. After that, move south.

Even if the fishing blows, the galley is top notch chrz and always lots of entertainment hhppy rofla slt

Plus right around now is when I had some good days of pulling up double-digit fish on whiteleggers there ;D

Would love to hit the Bandit, just gotta find some time to make that feasible.

NJ should shyte-can that 1 fish limit during breeding season...then again, everyone is going to be taking some real serious cut backs in the limits soon.

Pretty sure they're sailing whenever they can t^

I know they had a 16# about a week or so ago and was told some real nice quality fish being caught in the deeper waters.  Of course that all came to me while I was in Vegas...where it was warmer here than there bngh

Some nice fish caught south too.  Bandit, Morning Star, and some Cape May boats are your best bet for a trophy tog now.

I think I'm done 'til winter flounder season starts.  I'm hoping the marina lets me get the boat in a few weeks early, as I want to be out there early in northern Barnegat Bay - assuming we don't have a March where it never gets above 20-degrees or something!

The NJ bag limit goes back down soon, right?  Or has it already?

So I'm not out of my mind wanted to still fish for tog.

IrishAyes(or anyone else) interested in a mid-week road trip down to DE?  The boat I'm thinking of is booked every weekend through Feb.  It'll be a look at weather and take a chance or we could just book it and go.

If something like that doesn't happen, I'll probably jump on the Bandit.

NY is 10, DE is 10 and NJ 4?  That's not right.
