Outriggers
« on: January 19, 2008, 10:33:25 PM »
If the Luna Sea doesn't sell, and I don't think it will, I have a friend from work that has a set of Outriggers he wants to give me.  I never fished with them and don't know much about them.  I will be looking for some assistance this spring for those who are familiar with them.

What do you need assistance with, Nick?  Installing or using?

Nick

I have them, but never use them for Bass, Blues, Albies etc........so unless you are going to take a shot a Tuna, etc......I would not go through the expense.

This year I am not even putting mine on the boat. TT^

OK, didn't know.  I figured trolling for stripers and also trolling through the mud hole to see what I can pick up.  I do have tuna gear, but not for canyons.  The outriggers will be free, but I think I may have to rig the little things to make it work.  I haven't seen them yet.  Since they are free, I will take them and then figure out how they work from there.

Worse case, they do look good on the boat even when not in use.

No use for stripers, but could use to troll in mudhole for mahi and maybe bluefins.

then that may be worth a try.  Its usually on those relaxing, non serious day where the fish hit the best.

Think outside the box.  When drifting or at anchor you can use them to get some lines spread out.  I have done that before.  Not on a steady basis though.   t^

Hey Nick if nothing else you could fly the NJSWF flag.  Oh yeah we don't have one... 5hrug

They make great jigging poles, a little big but work great as the boat rocks.  t^

Also good when you have a few extra guys on the boat with a tangle issue. They can't pay attention to the lines, I put them in the out riggers, especially if the are dead stickers.

Nick, I knew of someone who flew flags, pennants, underwear and what not from the riggers. He always got a laugh (until his wife came to the Marina and saw some stuff that was not hers).

I would take them for free, but don't plan on using them much if at all.
