GPS help...

I bought a used Garmin 185C sounder and I'm looking to get a chip for it that covers from Sandy Hook down to Manasquan, any idea's where to begin looking?

It's a discontinued model number. I think from 1999. I can look..
I didn't know if there was a generic chip you can use or if it has to be a Garmin.

It has to be a brand/type the unit supports. Navionics,C-map, bluenav, etc.

The first place I would call is Consumers Marine Electronics in Wall.  They have a helpful sales staff, MOST of the time.  TT^

Well...the unit had a Garmin Navionics MGUS241SS (Offshore Rumson-Atlantic City) chip in it. I'm not going to need that.

Now the search to find a chip for more northern waters.

Look for the Garmin Navioncs chip that covers the area you want. Start with Ebay for used (and to sell the one you don't need).

It's the "micro" G-Chart and it's discontinued by Garmin.
