Quick Tip

Penn sent me back a tip when using there reels with Power Pro line.  Because the spool is smooth, you should put a piece of duct tape to the spool before you tie the line on it.  This will prevent the line from slipping..

Thanks Nick.

I use a bit of mono to cover the spool before my braid.

Isn't the that the purpose of spooling several yards of mono onto the spool before you spool up with braid?

I used about 20 turns of mono on the new reel giving me still over 300 yards of braid to play with.  No spin that way as well.  I thing I would be leery of the glue causing problems down the road.  I like to keep things simple  mono + Braid combo = priceless.

I use mono as a backer AND A FILLER.  No need to load a ton of braid onto your reels.  A lot cheaper putting on a 150-300 yard spool than to fill your reel with braid.
