Phil it depends on what vendors are there.....I have not seen a real good deal there....what I would do is go to some of the fishing flea markets (most listed on sight) I have seen some real good deals on quality stuff.

This Saturday there is one in Islin, NJ the Raritan Bay Anglers Flea market, next Saturday is the Hi-Mar Flea Market in Port Monmouth, the Saturday after is the Southern Regional School Flea Market in Manahawkin.......there is one or two flea markets every weekend from now until the end of March t^

Phil,

You can go on line and view the vendors:

http://www.acboatshow.com/attendees/directory/exhibitorslist.aspx

This should help.

I agree with what has already been said. you probably won't find much in the way of deals at the show.

I don't know what your looking for in rods. Just as a thought. Fenwick has some real nice rods that are not real expensive if your looking for new stuff. They have the HMX series in spinning, conventional etc. the retail is in the $80 ballpark. They work well. Also they have the Eagle series in both spinning and conventional and the retail on these are in the $50 to $60 ballpark. They are good rods both of them. This is what I use for myself as well as for my customer rods. They get used a lot. I take care of them and can keep them for at least 3 years before I turn them over. Never had a problem.I have had to replace a tip or two because of customer oooops. But that is no big deal. Buy a new tip for a couple bucks and epoxy it on.  ;D  I have had my own equipment for 8 years or more.

They are available in various lengths actions and line classes.

Fenwick also has some new trolling rods that seem nice.

Go on line to this website for there products. www.purefishing.com They also carry Barkley, Gulp, 7 strand, Abu Garcia and other products.

Check it out

mboy you are right, they do. If you do your homework and look around you can find some decent tackle for a reasonable price. You really don't need to spend a ton to get some nice stuff.

I use Okuma Reels on my boat 220L (level wind) for FLuke and Flounder and 300L for Bass and Blues..........

I have been using Okuma for 5 years now, a very good reel for a reasonable price you can pick up the 200's for around $35-40 and the 300's for 45-55.......they take a lot of punishment and are easy to maintain.

As for spinning reels I use the Okuma Avengers $50-60.

Many differant people usse them during my season. I have only had one reel fail and Okuma replaced it for me at no charge.

Thanks Capt. Bob.

I'm going to be at the AC show on Friday afternoon and Saturday. Being that I just bought a boat, I'm looking to set up some rigs for fluke and Bass for family and friends that don't have any gear. Didn't want to go overboard on $$$.
Thanks for the input.

I am looking forward to the Somerset show in March since I don't remember ever going (maybe once when I was younger).  I hear they have a lot of gear there.

Mboy, I think this is only the third year for the Somerset show.  I have gone the past two and found it to be one of the better shows.   t^

Flukedood, Catfish, myself and some other guys met down there last year. Good stuff.

I bought two Penn combo's with 550g reels for $85.00 each. I should have bought 4 of them.

We'll be down there again this year for sure.  TT^
