Tagged fish info

Always find this stuff interesting.

we caught a tagged blackfish this week. really like to see where it came from.

3 years ago while personal fishing in Delaware I caught a tagged short tog 12 miles south east of indian river... funny thing was it was tagged off
wildwood 2 years earlier... kind of shocked me since most say its a east to west migration for tog... it traveled over 30 miles south?

Also caught two tagged stripers in the manasquan river that were tagged off block island.

any one else have any tagged fish stories?

Once I caught a blowfish in Shark River that had been taggge in Shark River a year before.  I also caught a tagged Sea Bass off a wreck that had been tagged over a year before in the same general area.  Both fish were released.

A buddy of mine caught a seabass with a red tag. It was one were you got a $100 buck for sending it in.  Caught it in the area of Little Egg Reef.

i never caught a tagged fish.. It is very interesting to see where they came from.

I usually get a few tagged Stripers up on the Hudson every year. Most of those usually have been recently tagged there in the river by DEC though.. Got one this fall in Raritan Bay tagged by USFWS..they reported it was tagged the prior year in Mass. They sent me a nice hat for calling it in. One of my buddies used to tag a bunch of Stripers for the US Littoral Society  while fishing with me every year.. Over the course of a few years we tagged about 150 or so, and have gotten 20-30 returns.. Some from as far north a Maine, and south to Virgina.  Pretty cool hearing all the various places they turn up after we part ways..

In all the years I've been fishing, I have had two fish with tags.  Both fluke.  I caught one and Jozwirk caught the other.  They couldn't read the tag from my fish and I don't recall Jozwirk getting any info back on his.
