Is the safety course the same as the on-line course?  I took a course on-line through PA Fish Commission and it went quickly, certified and all.  That course also covers your tail for New Jersey under certain circumstances.

I would double check that about NJ. I do not believe any type of online course and test, no mater the state is valid in NJ waters.

Below is some info for out of state like myself. It really doesn't specify if that is 90 days per year or not. I have a PA boaters card.


Out-of-state residents who are at least 16 years of age and who will be in New Jersey for less than 90 days may operate a power vessel on the waters of the State of New Jersey if they possess a certificate issued by their state of residence or if they have in their possession written proof of successful completion of a boating safety course approved by another state, the US Coast Guard, or the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA).

This Info is correct. Last year I CALLED the NJ state police for clarification. Because my boat is registered in NJ. and is kept in a slip in NJ. as long as you DO NOT have a place of residency in NJ. all you need is a safety course certificate from your home state.
