Sad realization

The following equasion has led me to the sad realization that I won't be getting my usual slip in Keyport this year and may have to mothball the boat for this year

blown car engine in Nov  + disability for a month in Dec + fender bender in Jan= no splash for 2008

Nah, I just got a letter for my landlord trying to rise my rent $200 month and then saying I have to remove everything from the garage and only park my car in it (who doesn't store stuff in a garage, especially when you rent an apt?.

You ain't the only one with crappy luck my friend.

MIKE.. check the town rules with that rent raise.  I think they can only raise it 5% a year and not more with rent control.

Just called and sent them an email. Here is a link to the towne ordinance. I don't even think it is higher then 1% based on the CPI:

Mike, when you signed the lease, they are required to give you a booklet called "Truth In Renting". Your rights should be pointed out in it.

good find.  Not sure which type of dwelling you live in, but there are some exemptions.  Usually rent control is 3% but no more then 5%.  It seems like single family homes, or 2 family homes where the landlord lives in one of the units are part of the exemption.

They did not.

Yes, 2 families where 1 unit is owner occupied is exempt.

Both of the units are rentals and the owner does not live there, so they ain't exempt.

I left a message with the rent leveling clerk and shot him off an email with the scans of what their lawyer sent me yesterday.

Scumbags.

Mike, your correct.. no exemptions.. they can't raise you, or you can sue them for tripple damage.
