Phil, what you went to was the Seminar Series that George Poveromo puts on up and down the coast.

This fishing expo is similar to a boat show.  There are many dealers who set up tables of new and used (mostly new) fishing items.  You can get the latest fishing tackle from soup to nuts.  Rod, reels, terminal tackle.  Supposedly at reduced prices.   TT^

 ???
I am in the market for a st croix or comparable surf rod and shimano baitrunner 6500 reel, Do you think it is a good idea to wait until this show. I am going to go either way, but it is so hard to not buy it this week and try the surf this weekend but if it is a big discount I could wait.

I went to the fly fishing show and you had to really dig for a good deal on the latest and greatest stuff.

Do most vendors only take cash or do most take CC as well?

At the fly fishing show they took everything.  I traded a pig and two sheep for a Sage 10wt. combo!
