chumming question...

For flounder fishing, when chumming from a boat, using a chum pot, do I let it lay on the bottom or higher in the water? Off the stern? or the bow? Does it matter?

1 off the bow, 1 or 2 off the stern, right on the bottom.

Yes, I've read about that, I guess you just thread a rig through the holes in the chum pot?

I'm going out on Tuesday with a couple of buddies, I'll post afterwards....

Bouncing it and stirring up the bottom is a good technique also " So I have I read"

right on the bottom.....I always put a rig on the pot for thse coming up for a free meal


and as Rod said bounce it every so often...I will run tw sometimes three pots and so far this year three has been needed

When I was a kid and me and pops used to fish headboats for flounder (before his boat was in the water), we would bring our own chum pot with us on the party boats (and ties rigs to them of course).

Altho I have never seen one in person or used one, they do have small ones that clip to your line.

I typically use three, and keep em' where the guys are fishing.  The only time I put one in the bow is if the current is REALLY running hard.  Cracked clams, clam sheels, and mussels scattered around teh boat also can work wonders. 

Of course the pots should stay on the bottom, and they should be shook every 15-20 minutes depending on the bite
