Really nice looking teasers.  I have enough to start the season but I like the patterns.  I will have to try and mimic them.

Nice. I just prefer to use a gulp shrimp as my teaser most of the time fluke fishing (jigging or even dragging bait).

Skol, you try these yet or just came across them?  I still haven't really used their bucktails as I stick with the Spros and last we spoke about em you didn't seem all that sold either.  Granted I have caught fish on them but still end up going to the old, reliable Spro bt.

I still like the Tsunami split-tail 3&4" versions above a bucktail.  No worry about adding bait and they have great action to em.

Gulp is great but I stick with that on the actual bucktail.

I also occassionaly use the pink Tsunami as the teaser a' la Capt. Allen.

GT, I just came across them. I might be stopping into Har-Lee on Saturday and if they have them I'll pick up a 3 pack.

FYI, I came across a vendor at the Somerset show that sells Spro like bucktails dirt cheap. I picked up 3 dozen of various weights for under $50. I can post a picture(s) if you like.

The 4" pink Tsunami split tail was a hot teaser in 2006 9along with a few other colors) but I only caught a handful on them last year.

Those split-tails were the deal on a bonito trip I went on back in September!

Why do you prefer a weighted teaser above your bucktail rather than an unweighted one?  Doesn't it wind up tangling up?

IMHO, sometimes the way a weighted teaser falls triggers strike. I also will smear a dab or 2 of smelly jelly on the Tsunami.

FYI, I use unweighted teasers all the time.

Never had a problem with them tangling around the leader. I make sure I have a decent dropper loop lenght & I use a small duo-lock snap to attach the teaser to the dropper loop....maybe that is why I don't have a tangling problem.

A very popular and productive fluke bucktailing rig out on Long Island last season was a double Spro rig. The heavier Spro went on the bottom & a 1/4-1/2 ounce Spro off the dropper as a teaser. Seemed that when the Spros were the same color you had more action.

I use a short dropper loop in the leader to attach the teaser above the bucktail.  Never really noticied any issues with it tangling. Keep it short so that you can just take th loop, slide it through the eye of the hook and over the split-tail(folded usually ) Gotta go with light leader of course as any hook or teaser with a small yes can be a pain to get the loop through.
As mentioned, it just darts with the drop of every bounce of the BT.

A couple of seasons ago, the split-tails caught a lot of my fluke.  The better sized ones even. Various different tesers all worked well
Then the season before last it started to catch smaller fish and more searobins so I went with just a bucktail.

My rodbuilder ties his own bucktails and I usually get a supply of those as well.  Any kind will work, but seems from the boat I have the best luck with the Spro version.  From shore, I like the bannana head jig.

#1 teaser I had was a handmade shrimp fly.  Thing just looked so real and caught fish like no tomorrow.  Guy that made them retired to Florida.  Yellow-eyed demon claimed my last one. bngh
I tried other ones that looked just as good, but never worked the same

Skol,  I haven't bought ANY tackle lately.  Did find some stuff I didn't know I had during the move though so should be ok with gear.  Of course I'll end up hitting the stores during the season for more bucktails
