4/24 Flounder Sandy Hook Bay
« on: April 24, 2008, 11:27:44 PM »
Got a call the other day from Doug who wanted to do some Flounder fishing, set out this morning with Doug Sr, Doug Jr and Linsey. Outstanding day with bright sunshine and a light wind.

Fished from the incoming, through slack and into the outgoing......concentrated on the area between the Bug Light and the Coast Guard base. We were the first in the area but were soon surounded by 11 head boats and approx 20 priavte boats...........very slow dissapointing day.
Boated one keeper, had several drop off the hook just as the came to the surface and bunches of crabs, skates and horseshoe crabs..........A couple Capt's I know tried the Cedars and nodda...........for all the lines in the water I bet there was not enough Flounder caught to fill a 5 gal bucket.....

Figured the Flounder would scoot being as the Choppers have flooded into the bay.............

Even though it was poor fishing, it was a great day to see a Dad bond with his kids, worth a million dollars

Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!

Nice report Capt. Bob. Glad to see the family enjoyed their time out on the water.

Nice report CaptBob. That is a fantastic area for early season fluke. The party boats drift the drop off just inside of bug light. They will slide the boat keeping on the drop off till they get close to the CG dock, then go back and drift it again.
