New member here- hello!!
« on: May 06, 2008, 04:21:29 PM »
Hey all, I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Mike aka Slick56. I lived in NJ from 2000-2004 then moved to Staten Island. I just moved back to NJ, Old Bridge to be exact. I just started fishing the Surf in NJ and I'm learning all the new spots. I am fishing more from the surf than the boat with the gas prices so high  >:(
So far I fished Cliffwood quite a few times. keyport, Perth amboy, Lawrence harbor and Great Kills SI. Hopefully I can venture out to the hook to meet new people and fish a more productive area. I just bought a 8.6 St Croix casting rod 8-17 1/2-2oz rated and married it to an Abu 6500c spooled with 20lb PP. I gotta put it to use!  TT^ Oh, I'm a member of NE for some time now but I want to get more in tune with my area so this is where i will be hitting you all up with questions.

Thanks  t^
Mike

Hi Mike, welcome to the site. There are a few here who fish the same areas that you do. I'm sure they will provide some good info for you.
Any questions, just ask. Anything you can add, please do so. We are all friendly here and all willing to share.

Looking forward to your posts/reports.  t^

Thanks for the quick responses. Luna Sea, I googled NJ fishing and this site was up there. Im familiar with the other NJ site, but im not a member. I am a longtime member of Noreast, but 90% of that site is Long Island Nyers. I fish Ft Tilden and Long beach NY but now that Im in NJ those places are to far. I would like to join the crowd here, find some new fishing buddies who fish the same areas as me now and share experiences and info with you all  t^
So far this yr 1 bass and all bluefish for me  5hrug
Im gonna browse the site and see if there are any get togethers or surf fishing meet ups.

^ i fish largely the same areas as you because they're close to me, too.  if you'd want to meet up sometime and wet a few lines, i'm game.  just so you're forewarned though, i'm not very good at this. :)

oh, and welcome!

Mike, most guys will post up where they are going to fish and post for anyone interested that they will see them on the beach. I'm sure you will get some good company and locations from the guys up your way.

If you are going out, post that up so others know and they can join you.  t^

Welcome aboard Mile,

I am strictly surf myself but I fish a bit further south in Ocean County from Ortley Beach to the southern tip of Island Beach State Park.  I try to get out around 2 to 3 times a week but you have me beat already with the bass to your record this season.  Good going.  TT^

If you or any of the other guys on the site would like to give IBSP a try just give me a call.  Once you post over 8 times other forums will open to you and one of them is the contacts forum I am listed in there.

Again Welcome Aboard.
