Fluke mines?
« on: May 09, 2008, 06:33:26 PM »
These fluke mines are new to me. Normally you use a sinker then a leader. Whats the proper way to rig them?  5hrug

use them as a wieght or bucktail them ,I had good luck as a wieght on a slider rig ,when you start to feel the fish drop back and stick it

It is the chrome ball with a bucktail on it......

Use the chrome ball as your weight, I prefer and have had better action with a bucktail attached by a 6-8" leader rather than directly to the ball itself.......you connect the ball to your rig as you would a regular sinker..... slt

now that I know what your all talking about, I use the chrome ball with a bucktail off the ball with a small piece of mono, but it also acts as my weight as I use it with a 3-way swivel with either a bare hook with bait on the other, or teaser.

They should be called skate mines. If you use one make sure you jig a lot or its skate city.
This too shall pass.

I have caught some fluke on them, but way more skates...

I rather use a bucktail tipped with strip of mackerel.

Most of the fish below were caught on chrome balls.
We won a local hunting/fishing club tournament with this catch. Weighed in five fish at over 26 pounds. Most of the fish were four pounds or better. Had a five man limit that day with barely a drift.  t^

A lot of fish that day were caught by John Burkle. Bob Cole did ok that day but John had the hot hand.  Everyone had their limit but John was over his limit. A lot of keepers went back that day. TT^

the best part of the chrome balls and the spro jigs is, if used with a 3way and ad your normal fluke rig to it, your increasing your chances since your normally used weight, now is a jig or ball with a hook and bait on it.  I catch most of the fluke on the normal fluke rig, but the larger ones come on the ball or spro.
