New T-Man Lures...
« on: May 17, 2008, 05:53:49 AM »
Here's a peak at the new T-Man lures we just received after the 1st manufacturing run. We did a lot of field testing last fall and I'm pretty excited about them.

Got a chance to try the poppers on the CT River last week and we banged'em pretty good. If your interested they are now for sale on our website @ www.tmancustomtackle.com

Nice looking lures!  Got a question for you, they sell red hooks and line because fish cannot see red so, why paint lures red or with red accents ?  Can fish see red or is it just a marketing tool?  Your red lure would look like a dot and two eyes thrashing in the water to a fish that cannot see red. If this question has been answered before I apologise.

Hey Bob,

If you look the color spectrum below, red is the first color to disappear in the depths.  However, in shallow water it should be very visible to a fish.  Some say it looks like blood, others say it imitates a fish flashing its gills.  But until fish can talk, we'll never know what they think it is! ;D

I can tell you this much. For 7 years I've been making "scarlet red" tubes and I started a full-time business because of the success people have had with it.

Hey T-man.  How fast do you troll the 18" tubes with the weighted keel? And Do you hang your tubes when not  using them to keep them straight?  They keep the shape of the shipping bag for awhile.  Thanks,  Eddie  chrz

Don't you dare straighten that tube!!!! The reason I package them the way I do is so they will swim great right out of the bag.

You WANT that bend in the tube.....

I make 15" and 24" tubes because the both have differnt actions in the wtare with the fish sometimes prefering one over the other. But both tubes should be stored to keep a bend in them. Many times I just wrap the tube around the reel ptting the hook tip through the swivel.

It's a slow trolling game 2mph on you gps or less. Tip the tube with some sandworm reall or artificial and keep it in the bottom 5ft of the water column.

T-man,
I was picking up mussels every once in awhile. Good or bad? Should I bring it a up a little or use less weight?
Thanks Rick

You'll need to either lighten up the weight or bring in some line. You should always have at least 100ft of braid out when trolling the tubes. So, adjust from there.

Tick bottom occasionally is good but you shouldn't be getting hung a lot or dragging up a lot of bottom.

Mussel beds are an excellent place to troll.....
