FF and I ventured out today on a leisurly fishing trip.
Started @ Keyport with little drift.
Figutred I would cast a popper while dragging bait to see if I could muster up the blues.
Plenty to be found.
1st the cocktails, then the 5-7lbers showed up.
AS I was fighting one, my Bass bro Bionic Blade rod (12-30lb) snapped in half. Oh well, guess time to upgrade.
made a move over to the triangle area and had a out half a dozen shorties.
Tide died out and had to wait on cange.
moved a around a bit but could only muster up some shorties.
Wound up back in Keyport, saw WB and Christine out there (who have a nice 21" in the box last I spoke to them) and picked yup a few more shorties, then decided to play with the blues (on an 8-12lb spin rod).
This one did not blow up and left them biting on top.
If you want some nice surface action on vry light tackle with bluefish, now is the time. They are there and still fun to see them crashing a popper and following it right up to the boat.
Gorgeous day on the water. Boat ran GREAT (knock on wood). Fuel restriction issue gone, got to run WOT to check rpm for new prop) and FF and I got to chill for a day on the water
Only thing missing was our little guy.
