engine issues

I put my boat in the water on Monday ran from sloop creek to 40 marker no issues until I throttled back and she died.  Had to towed in.  After checking everything and changing all filters again I noticed a white milky substance, I figured it was problem with the fuel.  I am going to bypass the tank today and run on "clean" fuel to see if the engine will run.
If it does run then I have isolated the problem.  My question is...
What does everyone recommend to do if the fuel is contaminated?
60 gal tank full.
Was stabilized over winter.
If it does need to be drained, anyone recommend someone who can do this?  I live in Lanoka Harbor and boat does as well
Also would you guys change the tank also?

old motor 150 Johnson blew up from water in the tank it think 3 cylinders were pitted (no separator) VERY expensive mistake!!!!
Any idea on cost to do this?
I know this is getting long winded buy just want to pass along a tip to all new Honda owners.
Recently received a recall letter for the throttle possible not engaging or dis engaging so Just a PSA to anyone who did not get a letter and has a newer Honda.
All help is appreciated!!!!

What year boat and motor..The ethanol fuel is known to destroy older fuel lines and the interior tank linenings...

I make a few calls to some guys who've been great to me with boat issues.. I would think has to do with the tank and fuel?? I get back to you.

First thing, run off of known good fuel, as you said, so you isolate the problem.
   Milky substance??  Water and fuel will seperate, with water dropping to the bottom of the tank.
   What is your tank made of? Plastic,aluminum,fiberglass?   Ethanol will eat away at anything except the aluminum so check what your tank is constructed of.
   Check with local shops (repair, oil lube places etc)to dispose of the bad gas. Someone will take it for a fee.
   I'm going through the bad gas thing right now. Boat runs like sh*& on the trailer so havent even splashed her yet. I cant get back to working on it till next week, le6t you know what I do and what I find.

You are on the right track by eliminating possible causes and running off a portable tank.  I dealt with numerous fuel contamination issues with my old boat.

Couple questions though:
When it died, you couldn't restart it?
Did you check your plugs for signs of water?
Where did you find the milky substance and how much?

If you end up draining your tank, get twelve 5 gallon gas cans and start pumping.  At $2.80 gallon, I'll be glad to take a few cans off of you for my lawnmower.  Give them as gifts to your friends too.

That is correct it would not start, except for a few time where it would engage for 4-5 seconds and run like crap and stall.
Plugs are fine no gunk or water just clean oil.
milky crap came out of the seperator 1st one the clear bowl not the inline one.
It is gonna get towed over to the mechanic today!  I'm stumped.  Will post details of the problem.  Wish me luck!

Bulldog, try running the engine without any earmuffs on or oil. I am positive that this will fix your problem. If that doesn't work, I can tow you out and sink you with the boat. Hows that?

Did You try Running on A seperate Tank yet?  But not sure if that's going to help since your Carbs are probably gunked up already,  But you may be able to blow that crap out of them..

I was curious too if you ran on a 6gal tank. 

It could be a lot of things, injectors could be clogged, lack of fuel pressure, etc ...  If you are sending to a mechanic, then there's no sense guessing anymore.

My neighbor had a similar problem with the same motor.  Turned out to be his fuel injectors.  Is yours a electronic injector or direct?

UPDATE!!!!
The obvious answer is the correct one
Water and "gunk" in the fuel
causing the filters and injectors to clog
Cause
Beloved ethenol and seaswirl design flaw of water getting through the deck and pooling on the tank and entering through the float!
Soultion
Drain the tank clean the tank change all filters again! and clean injectors.  Reseal the deck
Cost
$800+ new fuel

Thanks again to everyone who replied and a big THANK YOU to Shawn Sea Tow Barnagate (Very nice guy but I am not sure if it a good thing to know the local Sea Tow guy by name) for the tow in!  Anyone who does not have sea tow should really rethink their position!
