Headed out with John S at 5:30. Snagged plenty of bunker in the AH marina along with few others. Bait thick as it gets. Tempted to throw the peanut net but knew it would be futile. None stop, cast, snag, retrieve, load the live well. 25 minutes of cranking having fun with filet mignon for the bass. Flat seas throughout the bay and outside south. Fleet of about 25 boats set up in the rocks as we arrived with plenty of rods bent but the concentration was around a handful. Set anchor and began livelining/chunking only to watch in disappointment 75 yards away the nonstop action. Kept the chunk going for a good hour and still I could not entice those fish. Made a decision to move to an open alley amongst the fleet. I'm not one to jump into someones pocket and fully respect the guy who has paid their dues so, I worked my way into position with plenty of room on either side ensuring not to screw up the boys bite. Don't you know as soon as we put the first bait was put out, we have reels screaming! For the next 2 hours we only boat two bass (both decent but not close to some of the beauties we saw boated next to us 35+ lbs), 3 blues with at least a half dozen bass runoffs and equally as many blue runs only to reel up chaffed 50# mono leaders!
Tide shifted, garbage showed up all over the surface and wind started to pick up. Headed back to port and in by 1:00. Overall, a great day. John decides to hit the beach instead of heading home and nails 6 out of the suds to boot.
