DEEP WATER FLUKING-WHEN?
« on: June 25, 2008, 04:22:34 PM »
ONCE THE WATER HEATS UP I JUST LOVE TO FLUKE OFFSHORE IN 60 TO 80 FEET.
THEY COME OFF THE BOTTOM AROUND WRECKS AND ROCK PILES AND ATTACK JIGS AND TOP HOOKS.

THE QUESTION IS WHEN TO START?

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR EXPERIENCE.HAD A MAD DOG BITE
AT THE REEF LAST YEAR AT THE END OF JULY

I've had good trips fishing the deeper water wrecks, reefs & rockpiles from mid July to mid August. But I've known others who have done well past Labor Day.

I have 2 trips scheduled for deep water fluing on August 6 & August 9.

I usually hit them spots pretty much every trip. Several years ago when I first started fishing the deeper water there was no one else fishing there. I would fish the deeper water exclusively. Seems once the draggers caught on about five years ago, the catch has declined. Plus the dog fish moved in.  >:(

I would not hesitate to try them waters now Ross.  t^ Good luck, you will probably see me out there.  ;D

water temp is key

there are fish there now but tend to be more finicky bite 1 day then not for 2 days.

pt boats had nice fish on the reef already
belmar boats had a couple good days off the beach in the rough stuff. but then it shuts down.

its more inconsistent this time of the year but... never hurts to try

much steadier from mid july on.

aug = right turn out of manasquan ;D

Good luck on your trips
