Magic Hour Cruise
« on: June 28, 2008, 11:55:30 AM »
I was doing a little work in the garage yesterday evening and got a call from Christine finishing up work and wanting to take a boat ride.
Told her didn't really feel like it.  rofla  hhppy

Left a puff of smoke where the cooler was (beep meep), and met her at the boat around 1930. We grabbed a bite to eat and took a spin up the Raritan. I had not been under the RR, 35, 9, or GSP bridges in many years so have been meaning to get up there for a looksee.

Noticed that the ship that was tied up near Carborundum for years had sailed. Other interesting sights and signs of past industrial prosperity (translation: ruins.) Watched the fishermen off the river's edge either side by the old lead plant (bet that is C&R only for sure) and all too quickly the sun set.

Continued upriver for a while longer. We were going to see if we could get up to the Edison Ramp since we live not too far from there- also there's an old SI ferry beached up there somewhere on the South Bank, been meaning to try to check that out up close too.
Oh well maybe next time-- got up to the first power plant and spun around. Leisurely trip back with Christine at the helm til the triangle when darkness, merging channels, buoys, lighthouses, rockpiles, tugs, and unlit moored barges sitting just above the waterline got the better of her.

Swung it over and beelined for Keyport. Back in the slip around 2330 after a nice cruise. Not a fish was sought or seen.  (OK maybe 1) t^
