Yeah, you picked a rough week to go out!  If you have never done it, give it a shot at low tide and/or when the waves aren't 4-6+ feet every couple of seconds!!  It is a lot of fun!!  Nothing better than fishing on the beach, getting lost in the "noise" of crashing waves, sand between your toes and water up to your knees!!

Nice catch SR!  The Canal is a pretty neat place to fish!  Lots of variety in there.  Just wish they had better parking or public parking at even one location 5hrug.

Hit the canal at about 1PM this afternoon, right at slack tide. Fished the very north end at the mouth of the river with a pink Fin-S, looking for weakfish, and nada. Friend of mine told me he caught 3 approxamately 24 inches 2 weeks ago there on live spot, and hasn't seen a weakie since. The 2-4 pound bluefish were noticably absent also. Water was a bit turbid, wind mild out of the southwest, weed minimal and boat traffic minimal.

So I worked up the wall with the rapala up to the 88 bridge looking for a striper against the wall, and nada on that too. Then worked an alewife Fin-S in a couple of my favorite holes looking for a striper, nada on that also. No runs, no hits, so I couldn't make any errors, LMAO.

Seems the only game in town in the Canal right now is tog. Plenty of people fishing them, and catching also, including more that one keeper per person and being thrown back. Green crab and clam both appearred to be working equally well.

While fishing today, I found a kayak laying in the weeds. Kayak appears to be in excellent shape, missing a few parts. I asked around, and no one had any knowledge of it, nor was anyone there the owner. I don't know if it was abandoned, or stolen and stashed there, or what, but since no one there had any knowledge of it, or claimed to be the owner, I took it home. I'm posting this here so that if anyone had this kayak stolen, or misplaced, or whatever, they can PM me and if they can describe it in detail, I will gladly return it to them. I figuered I'd take it home before someone made off with it and try to find who the owner is or what the story is on it, so if it belongs to anyone, PM me and let me know.

Hi Garry, You might want to also put that in our Kayak Forum as well as there are a few guys that are avid Yakers and might know something or someone that was ripped off.
