Has anyone been fishing the canal lately?  I was just wondering whether any fish have been moving through or when they start to.

Late responce but i did here of a few short stripers being picked and have seen more than a few boats drifting and trolling through there with no visual catches

Went and fished the canal this morning.  The weather wasn't so bad, but the fishing was.  Not a single hit. 5hrug

Good try!  Even the bays in OC area are a little slow still.  If you don't mind venturing, try fishing the Raritan for some better luck!

Fished the Condos yesterday eve. Caught 2 blues one around 2 lbs and another close to 6 long and skinny typical for this time of year. I was only there about an hour. The guys throwing metal which from what I could see was most didnt catch anything. I was using a X-Rap 4 3/4" olive green it has some nice flash figured that the blues hit most anything but it might give me a better cance for a bass.

I tried for bass at the switch of the tide last night, nothing doing but rain.  Went deeper into the bay later on, between storms and hammered some bass with keeper sizedan schoolie

Went down to the condos Friday Eve (nothing and nobody there) then tried the end toward the river on the old hospital side. Incomming very fast until dark. Many blues just at the surface with nothing more than a couple of followers. About 10 people on either side not a fish caught during the last hour of light. I would guess that once it changed it probably got good. I forgot my light.

Good try!

It shouldn't be much longer before the Canal gets going good again!  We just need some more bait to hit the bays and bring the fish!
