He was right!Manasquan river side is loaded with the blues, etc and my seceret spot for the togs has been off the charts. The crabs are the best bait for them,Yesterday was with the family there and we all had a keeper,YUM!My biggest fish was 17 1/4".A MONSTER for the canal.Never seen so many big togs there ever,it's really been great fishing!I will try to have a pic posted, not real good on the comp.

Hey,
Fished the canal last weekend across from the State police...got there right before the incoming tide early in the AM. Schoolie stripers were hitting baitfish and hit a xrap a few times before I tried for the blackfish. Caught 10 or so and missed more than that. Two keepers ...one was 17". Put up a nice fight in that current.

 Goodluck to you all  ;D

Went tonight around 5:30.  Buddy caught one 14" Black fish.  I however caught nothing except maybe west nile with all those mosquitoes out tonight.  Threw everything I had at them and some eels but nothing worked.  Probably would have down better if I stuck around a bit when the tide started to go back out but got tired.
Rich, What time do you close? Stopped by a little after 5 I believe and nobody was home, figured you skipped out to go fishing! Haha

I'm in town ....  You were a little off on the tide ....  I heard the bite heated up around  7:00   from a regular he had 4 keepers  and  30 or so shorts and saw some bass busting .....  The morning bite was great yesterday many keepers , Bass and Blues  .....   chrz

Got some live bait for capt. Rich and hit the canal around 730ish pm till me and a few buddies finished a bakers dozen and got tired of hooking nothing but the bottom  rgmn.  saw some regulars drifting the canal as well and nothing hitting for them also  :-X.  Hope the weekend holds better luck.  my vacation is almost over....  nosmly
The trouble with fishing is it was better before you got there, and after you left.
When in doubt...exaggerate

Good try!  Weird...fishing has been good all week.  One of the downfalls to fishing the Canal and the Inlet...the snags.  Although, that happens any time you are bottom fishing.

Thats why I like a little bit of a moving current.  Just slack off and it usually lifts out of the snag.

A little too much current this a.m. and dirty too but I am happy. (too late into tide and new moon)  Got my keeper early on to a standing ovation from some boaters, an on the line fish, a short and a sea bass.

The keeper kind of slants my mood, slow but nice cool morning and the fish do seem bigger.

Last time a whole crab dented by the sinker was the ticket.  This time a half with the shell was good.  Actually got the seabass on a whole crab but think it was laready wacked a few times by a tog.
