I go Clamming on this island every year and don’t do so bad, but I end up doing more raking then my old shoulder can handle. This island has about a foot of water on it at high tide and none at low. The clams we get are about 6 -8” under the sand. It takes a lot to find them. My question, is there any thing I can look for to aid in finding them? I have tried to rake where I find some grass coming out of the sand and also where I saw a small hole. I have found clams in both spots and sometimes I haven’t. Did I find the clams there because of the hole or grass or did I just get lucky?
Thanks for the help.
