Did my usual Tuesday trip, left AH ramp at 6:30, snagged some bunker for fluke bait and went to the TC buoy. Out going tide so I drifted from the channel up hill to the flats on the south side of the channel. Started pulling 17+" fluke and then a 23" followed a little while later by a 21" and a keeper Sea Bass. First fish took the green/chartruse skirt with squid and smelt and the second took the pearl skirt with squid and peanut bunker. Thought it was going to be a great day, thinking limit...then the robins arrived with slack tide followed by the skates. Moved to the hook, nothing but robins and very Small fluke. Moved down the beach to the first bathing beach just north of the bridge where I picked up a keeper last week. No current but wind from the south was pushing me toward the beach. Skates, skates and more skates. Moved north to the Sandy Hook channel and tried several drifts but only found more 14-17" fish with robins. Headed in and stopped a CG channel for more shorts and robins. Decided to head in at 2 as the tide was relay not going to start for an hour, the south wind was relay starting to blow and wanted to get back a little early. Stopped art the south entrance to the AH breakwater and made a few casts with the Gulp swimming minnow and picked up an almost keeper at 17 7/8". Gassed up to get ready for Thursday and cleaned boat. When I went to clean fish there were four guys cleaning 9-10 large fluke so I had to wait. As they were leaving I saw the TNT on a trailer nearby. Guess they also got two to three apiece but they were really nice fish. They even had a ling to they must have been fishing outside. At least keepers are starting to show up.
