Had CoolHand,NJBob,Pete, and Big Don for our open boat fluke trip.
Weather forecast was crappy but, we decided to go since the guys wanted to go fishing. We knew the south wind might kill the fluke bite, but we were going to give our best effort.
Headed out to s.g. reef where our first couple of drifts produced shorts and 2 keepers. With the big heave we decided to head north.Got up to elberon and long branch with much better conditions. We started to get some action but it was heavy on the shorts, but we did get a keeper here and there.
Went up to the rocks looking for some bigger fish , made three drifts and caught all shorts. Unusaul for the rocks but, prob was water temp.
loads of blues made there appearance on the finder and created a little havoc on our bucktails.
Then came the wind all 25knts. headed to l.b. in 30ft the only place we could fish with our 1.8 drift.Had some action but again it was heavy on the shorts. Miracle pete managed a few more keepers and won the dollar from pete.
Guys worked hard for our 9 keepers despite Tough conditions.A few seabass and a ling as well.Lot of 17 1/2 heartbreakers
.
Great group of guys funny and a lot of laughing.
Bumpy ride home.
