Pops Soul Happy 4th Report
« on: July 04, 2008, 09:39:30 PM »
Drew and I headed out of SR inlet 11 am on the outgoing tide. We headed South in to a with a cool south breeze into our face and a water temp of 57 degrees. tried our first drift for Fluke off of Spring lake only to catch 3 Skates and a Sea Robin. It wasn't long before the bunker came along so we snaggged a few up and sent them to the bottom, then we tried some chunks nothing nothing nothing, like the Dead Sea. We picked up shop and headed North to Asbury Park and warmer water up to 66 degree's Big difference But still No Fluke or Striper's from 25 feet out to 55 feet Nothing. No Drift flat as could be by 2:30. We big up shop once again and toss out an ava with a green tube and start a slow troll back to the inlet with the boredom of catching nothing we were in hopes of at least a blue fish. With Drew at the wheel and me taking a nap in the passenger seat the clicker fires off and line is peeling away in a hurry with a fish up on top of the water making big splashes, and we our down to the backing on the old Penn. I swing the boat around and Drew is getting some line back. We were rewarded with a decent suicidal Striper about a mile off of Asbury in 60 feet of water. Happy 4th of July everyone  TT^

Great report, great fish, you did real good. Just goes to show they're out there, and I'm sure this south wind and accompanying cold water has them way off their normal feeding habits.

Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.
