fluking
« on: July 07, 2008, 09:28:35 PM »
ok heres a good one i came up with. how do you go about looking for some flatties when they're in hiding?

generally i look for natural structure, bumbs, holes, and nice drop offs. occasionally pull a drift along a wreck. sometimes we hook up, sometimes we dont. today for instance we just drifted blind on the reef and was able to score some small ones.

so,,, what do you look for that has been productive?

any drop off, hole, lump, channel, shoal, or change in the bottom can hold bait and the fluke that eat them

Greg, you are doing the right things. Fish the structure. On the outside, look for any change in the bottom, either depth, wreck, rocks, etc.

These are great places for bait fish to be and fantastic ambush spots for fluke.
