manasquan 7/7

Got out after the fog had semi-lifted today.  still was pea soup in the ocean so decided to give it a try in the river between the Inlet and the Train bridge.  Drifted killies, clams, and New penny gulp shrimp and took (lots of)shorts on all 3.  Most fish were caught on the southern channel edge.  It was the end of the incoming tide.  The fog lifted outside, so we decided to look for some bunker.  We found them about 1.5 miles northeast of the inlet, and arrived just in time to see a guy on a big grady hoist a 34+inch fish over the rail.  stayed with this school until they were off of the Spring lake Hotel. We made several drifts through them with livelined bunkers as well as heads.  We got three solid runoffs with liveies on the surface but no takers.  rain and work schedule sent us back to the barn.    I also got to break in my new barefoot baitcasting rod, got for 50 bucks @ fishermans supply.  I bought it to replace a tsunami i snapped on a snag at the jetty  nosmly nosmly.  I highly suggest anyone in need of a rod... boat, spinning, baitcasting, etc... consider a barefoot.  They are durable, powerfull, and very inexpensive.

Thats all for now
