As a teacher, I'm able to enjoy the glorious job of taking kids out fishing during the summer months as part of the Lutheran High School's Fishing Camp. During each 2 week session, we get to enjoy some bay fluking in both the Jones Inlet and Fire Island Inlet areas and the kids have a great time and they learn a lot. Due to some bussing problems, we arrived late for today's trip aboard the Bay Princess @ Captree, but that didn't damper our spirits as we bagged well over 100 fluke in just under 2 hours. Granted, we only had 6 keepers that made the 20.5" limit, but most of our "jumbo shorts" ranged from 17-19"+ and the kids don't mind catching and releasing. They had a blast and even this counselor got lucky by bagging a #4.25 beauty while giving a "lesson on bucktailing". Point of this post is simple, take a kid fishing!!! You won't regret it!!
