Fluke Fishcakes
« on: July 14, 2008, 07:26:17 PM »
The best time to eat fluke is the same day you catch them, but I have a bunch in the freezer
that I'd like to make fishcakes with but I can't
find a good recipe. I have many good fluke recipes but not fishcakes. Any help??

Uncle Luna's Fish Cakes

fish fillets fluke, yes even bluefish works well
1=lb of fillets roughly
juice of 1 lemon
couple dashes hot sauce or to taste
2 eggs
1/2 tbls old bay or to taste
1 onion diced fine
1 celery stalk diced fine
1 tbls mustard
3 tbls relish
1 cup crushed corn flakes or saltine crackers

Put fillets in micowave safe dish in batches and cook thru. Flake fish apart and put in large bowl, add the rest of ingrediants except corn flakes and mix well. Add the corn flakes or saltines and mix. You might have to add more
you want the fishcakes to hold togrther when you form them not too wet nor too dry.
Form cakes and roll in bread crumbs. Put if frying pan with enough oil to fry till golden brown on both sides.

Most people don't like bluefish but I make them like this and everyone who tried them liked them
ENJOY with tarter sauce.

Uncle Luna you should save that recipe on your computer just to have when a newbie comes along.  This way you don't have to retype it again.

Sweet, I will have to try your recipe this week, unfortunately I only have frozen fluke in the freezer.  I wish it was fresh but it is better than nothing.

I think tomorrow will be a fishcake dinner.

Uncle Luna,
I searched the web for days trying to find a recipe that looked good, this one is the winner-good job, thanks. I added a couple of things(finely diced red pepper, tsp of diced capers,
garlic powder).
I have it chilling in the fridge and will cook them up tonight.
Thanks for the fast reply!

Uncle luna, you say this works for bluefish too?
I like just about anything that comes out of the ocean except bluefish, and I never tried sea robins. If sea robin fishcakes were good we would all have as much as we wanted! Have you ever tried it?
